Thank you for posting this. I also deleted a bunch of social medias recently and even though it’s been kind of difficult going about my day without thinking about those apps occasionally, this inspired me to continue my journey.
But similar to what you’ve mentioned, I’ve also already started seeing a bunch of positive effects, and I’ve grasped the full extent of how much I can accomplish in my own world rather and not worry about someone else's.
What social media platforms did you delete. For example, instagram, discord are obvious ones. But Youtube is a great platform for learning, removing that is very detrimental. What about reddit (a forum to answer questions). You deleted all these platforms and (even having deleted the account never go on these websites anymore?)
Hi Josh! Thank you for the comment. I deleted Instagram, snapchat, reddit and discord from my phone. I totally agree with your comment and I think my perspective has changed as time goes on. Soon, I'd like to rewrite this a bit. YouTube is undoubtedly a revolutionary platform for learning stuff, and I agree that Reddit can be a good forums page too. Your comment reminds me that I need to be clear in my definition of "deletion." In this case, I deleted my IG account so I can't access that anymore, and same with snapchat. That changed my perception of connection to other people; so I was forced to actually reach out deliberately if I wanted to say hi instead of passively liking a post. I actually have a YouTube where I put some videos of my practicing of guitar. I still deleted it from my phone making it not as easy as one click to access and I installed an extension that alters the HTML so that you are only left with the search bar, which I find makes my use of YouTube more deliberate. And I should mention, this is also my individual experience that is certainly incompatible with many others; it - at a given moment - is a privileged that not everyone has to exist without social media whether it be for work reasons or that you have friends over seas. I really appreciate the comment and I think that this article needs to be updated taking into consideration your question!
